Requirements
- Track saw cuts 300mm deep along the abutments to allow for new padstones
- Wire saw the top off the central pier for new padstones
- Core drill 152mm diameter holes through the pier for lifting strops
- Diamond drill holes for new dowel bars
Pre-Christmas blockade
Prior to the main blockade, KM attended site on weekend possessions to saw cut the abutments 300mm deep.
A clean edge was required to allow for padstones that the new deck would sit on. Our track saw was bolted to the face and coupled with an 800mm diameter blade – more than capable of cutting 300mm deep.
To minimise requirements during the blockade, our operators form a series of 152mm diameter holes above the pier cut line. These were to allow for lifting strops during the blockade
Blockade
The main task during the blockade was to wire saw the top of the pier for removal. Once the decks were removed, our operators were able to carry out their works. Due to the length and width of the pier, our wire saw was the ideal solution for a quick and clean cut. To ensure the wire remained on course during the pull, we tacked on lengths of timber to assist of guards.

A secondary team of KM operators attended mid-blockade to core holes vertically through the new deck and into the existing abutments and pier to form anchor holes for new dowel bars.
