PQC Bay Replacements
When replacing PQC bays on England’s busiest highway, time is of the essence.
To allow for removal, KM are required to split each bay into 4 sections. Each section is numbered – the first 2 sections for removal are cut on a chamfer to reduce the chance of any snags.
A diesel floor saw is used to form cuts up to 450mm deep.
To counter ‘overcutting’, a series of diamond drilled holes are stitched along each cut line using diesel a trailer rig. Once cut, the sections of bay are extracted via a vacuum lifting plate mounted to a 21-tonne excavator and loaded on to waiting lorries.

Joint Sawing
KM carry out joint sawing on a variety of applications including expansion joint formation in asphalt and concrete, to traffic loop detection cuts. Joints have been formed from 5mm to 25mm wide and to depths of 300mm, using high powered diesel floor saws.
